Here Comes Fall…

And With It, a Challenge!

Fall Fitness '22

As I write this, it’s sticky and warm outside, but despite this head fake, fall is only a few days away. It’s always sad to see another summer slip away, but at least there’s the consolation of autumn on Long Island, perhaps our best season. It’s also the season of “back to normal,” whatever that now means. One thing it certainly means is it’s time to get back to the Gym. And we’re ready for ya! Here at FI, we’ve had a (very) busy summer getting prepared for this exact moment. Here we go…

The Contest PLUS the New App

The Fall Edition of our biannual Fitness Challenge is in the sign-up phase, with the challenge itself set to start on September 26th. If you’re thinking about doing it, I strongly encourage you to take the plunge. This one is enhanced by the inclusion of our new mobile App, FI+. You’ve probably downloaded the App, and we sincerely hope you’re enjoying it. (If you haven’t downloaded it, please call or stop by the desk for assistance.) As you may have surmised, we’re incredibly excited about the new App; especially what it will bring to the Fall Fitness Challenge.

In the past, the contest was basically twice-a-week partner training with your trainer. The rest pretty much depended on you and your partner’s initiative. When you weren’t with your trainer, you were more or less on your own. Now, FI+ allows your trainer to stay involved with your fitness regimen even when you’re not at the gym training with them. That’s because FI+ allows your trainer to create a full 8-week workout calendar, so along with the in-person sessions, you can follow your trainer’s recommendations seven days a week. The App enables your trainer to provide off-day training, rest days, meal plans and meal tracking, and supports two-way text communications directly on the App. So what was formerly a twice-a-week experience becomes a fully immersive 8-week guided tour to a fitter and healthier you. We’ve taken a great experience and made it even greater and potentially life-altering.

The sign-up period ends real soon – 9/19, to be exact – so act soon if you’re interested. It’s worth noting that the challenge is positioned perfectly on the seasonal calendar, ending the week before Thanksgiving. So it’s a great way to drop a few before the holidays, if you know what I mean. You can learn more about it right here: https://www.fitnessincentive.com/dynamic-duo-challenge/.

New App

The Plus in FI+

Speaking of the new App – something I’ve been doing a lot of—there’s a great article about it in this issue by Kristen that you should read. You should also be aware that we are putting the old App out to pasture. It will be retired on 9/30/22. As in decommissioned…no longer functional… deceased…dead. So please make sure you have the new App downloaded and installed before then. You should have received several invitational emails. Just follow the instructions in the email. It’s straightforward. If you haven’t received the emails, please let us know. We may have the wrong email on file for you, or you opted out of emails. Let us know, and we’ll help you get started. Email: fit@fitnessincentive or call us at 631-587-5766.

FI Coach

While we’re lingering on the subject of the new App, I wanted to again bring your attention to FI Coach. There’s a great article in this issue explaining how it works and why you might want to consider using it. Check it out here: https://www.fitnessincentive.com/fi-coach-with-jourdan/. The long and short of it is that FI Coach is the most affordable way for you to connect with a personal trainer. The programs are at least a month-long and include full workout calendars to guide you to your health and fitness goals. Each program is different, so the one you choose depends on your goals. (Learn more here). If you’re on the fence about personal training, or if you just want a better idea of what to do on the weight room floor, this could be the perfect program for you.

LIFE-IC7

It Never Gets Old at FI…

New Equipment

If you’re a spinner, you probably noticed that we recently added eight new IC7 cycles to the cycle stable. These bikes are newer versions of our current cycles, sporting improved computers, but the same great ride. Plus, they allow us to increase our class size to 32, higher than pre-pandemic. You can learn more about them here.

Aussie Pro Runner

We’re also excited to announce that we have a new self-powered variable resistance treadmill coming soon. It’s called the Aussie Pro-Runner, and it’s a beauty. (See photo). What’s cool about this unit is its curved deck and resistance control lever. You provide the power, moving at your own pace, and you can also control the resistance. This allows you to do everything from full-out sprints to heavy resistance sled pushes. It’s a great training vehicle and should be here in October (assuming shipping isn’t backed up too badly). Once it arrives, we’ll be sharing some videos on how to best use it. Keep an eye peeled.

fall schedule

New Classes

We recently surveyed to see what classes you wanted us to add and on what days and times. Thanks to all of you who took the time to share your opinion. The result is the new Fall Class Schedule, set to roll out on September 19th. We hope you, or at least the vast majority of you, approve. One thing we really focused on was building up the evening class schedule. If you were among those asking for more afternoon and evening classes, well, you got ’em. Keeping evening classes on the schedule has been a challenge in the past, due primarily to low attendance. So, if you are a fan of late-day classes, I encourage you to attend them, spread the word, and drag some friends along with you. Keep the evening classes alive! Check out the new schedule on the FI+ App.

We’re also happy to announce the arrival of two new Personal Trainers to the team:
