Is sweating your ultimate goal during a workout? I’m talking about a feeling of cleansing, my body is glistening, and I’m soaked through my clothes type of sweat! Is there any better feeling? If you agree, have you tried a hot Pilates class at FI?
This hour-long class is taught at temperatures between 88-90 degrees, in our yoga room, which houses FAR infrared heating—more on the infrared heating in just a moment.

Pilates in itself is an amazing, full-body workout. But add the benefit of heat, and you will be asking yourself, “why did I wait so long to try it?” Unless, of course, you despise sweating, then it’s not for you. But perhaps I can entice you to give it a try anyway.

The class starts off with a traditional Pilates warm-up. You begin to heal from within, allowing your body to create longer, leaner muscles, burn fat, increase your heart rate and your metabolism without any significant impacts on your body. Doesn’t this sound good already? Classical Pilates movements are performed, in addition to a few faster-paced flowing movements. All movements, by the way, can be modified to suit any and everybody.

Now more on the infrared heating system.
Why do we exercise? One primary goal associated with exercise is weight loss. The increase of your heart rate and metabolic rate during a hot Pilates class, as opposed to a room temperature class, will make you burn more calories. And, of course, when you burn more calories than you take in, you’ll lose weight. If that’s not selling you yet, here are some additional benefits to a hot Pilates class, in our yoga room, with the FAR infrared heating:

– Skin rejuvenation
– Immune system booster
– Detoxification
– Stress reducer
– Muscle and joint pain relief
– Improved sleeping patterns and, my personal favorite.…drum roll please…
– Cellulite reduction!

Now you’re thinking, “who doesn’t want that?!”
Um, nobody I know. So give it a try! Come see either me or one of the other Hot Pilates instructors and experience how you can add this class to your existing workout regime. You may just get hooked, and you’ll definitely sweat!
