Fantastic Four Stories
Kasandra’s Amazing Transformation
Spring 2026 marked the return of our annual, seasonal fitness challenge, with a kind of retro twist this year: the return of the four-member team format. The Fantastic Four Fit 4 Summer Challenge was the original pre-C19 format for the contest, and, after a hiatus, it has returned to cheers of popular approval. The awards ceremony (and big check distribution – yes, prize money also returned this Spring) took place on June 1st, bringing the twelve-week excitement to a close. The challenge is always replete with fitness success stories, but this year, there was an exceptionally notable performance by one contestant in particular: Kasandra Gerlak, trained by Jackie. She propelled the winning team and claimed First Place Individual honors as well. Her results were eye-opening, as she was able to increase her skeletal muscle mass by nearly 9 pounds and her lean mass by 15 pounds while dropping nearly 10 pounds of body fat – in just 12 weeks! Her cumulative score was nearly double the nearest competitor’s, and among the most dramatic we’ve had the privilege to observe in 17 years of fitness challenges. With that in mind, we had to learn more, so we asked Kasandra if she would share her contest experience, and she graciously agreed. Thank you and congratulations, Kasandra! Here’s her story:
It Begins
“I originally joined Fitness Incentive in 2022,” she begins, “left for a short period of time, and then returned right before this season’s contest. I had fallen into a motivational rut as far as strength training was concerned. Life had gotten particularly busy, and I’d put health and fitness goals aside. Then, a friend of mine reached out, indicating they were looking to maybe sign up for the contest, and it got my brain spinning: it was exactly what I needed to do for myself!
Kasandra joined the contest towards the end of the registration period, and her priority was finding a team she could join that fit her schedule. “Fitness Incentive staff let me know that Jackie had available spots on a team in the evenings, which was ideal…almost too good to be true, so I signed up shortly thereafter.”
Kasandra grew up playing competitive sports, then joined the Marine Corps shortly after high school. She’d maintained a certain level of fitness for all of those years, but then fell short in prioritizing her health around 2016. “It wasn’t until right before I joined Fitness Incentive that I finally started taking better care of my health.”
Then Came the Contest
“I went into the contest with the mindset that I wanted to create a sustainable plan that I could continue past the twelve weeks. My plan was simple: work out four days a week, prioritize eating protein, don’t overanalyze my food choices, and if I fell short one day (didn’t work out or eat as well as planned), I’d get back at it knowing that it was only that one day. My favorite part of the contest, aside from meeting three awesome women, would be that I built a sustainable plan that I can take into my future with me.”
The Fantastic Four
The return of the team aspect this Spring really resonates with Kasandra. “I absolutely loved my team!” she says. “I knew Jackie, but Sarah, Michelle, and Anne were all strangers to me before the competition. We quickly developed a very active chat group — motivating each other, sharing food ideas, or simply chatting and building our bond. The group I was with was such a positive group that I truly looked forward to seeing them on Monday and Wednesday evenings. I hope to continue our friendship beyond these 12 weeks.”
Trusting the Process
Without the guidance of professional fitness trainers, there would be no contest. Trusting her trainer Jackie’s process put Kasandra on the path to her astonishing results. “Jackie created a plan that focused on progressive overload, which was amazing. I was able to track every weight and every rep each week to ensure that I was improving as time went on. I saw this as a major contributor to my success. There was a lot of ‘trusting the process’ involved, and seeing my weight and rep count go up every week was extremely motivating.”
Sometimes Jackie’s guidance took unexpected turns. “She shared some restaurant hacks, like what to choose instead of an unhealthy option, and helped us understand healthy carb and protein choices over alternatives. And,” she continues, “I really enjoyed having the inbody scan every three weeks! It allowed me to test out changes to my routine. For example, my scan at nine weeks had revealed that I was burning more fat than intended, and my muscle mass increase had slowed. Jackie advised that I increase my calories for the remainder of the contest. I did, and it showed a significant muscle increase on my final scan, just as expected!”
Moving Forward

Kasandra credits a lot to the 12-week, team format. It fostered a commitment to her teammates and also to the pursuit of longer-term, enduring results. “I was such a lucky gal to be placed with these women,” she says. “They, and Jackie, and the variety that Fitness Incentive offers—everything from yoga and Pilates to personal training and the use of a full gym—I feel like I’ve developed true habits that were reinforced for the three-month contest that I can carry forward.”
