I’d quickly come to realize that fitness is my passion and that I really wanted to be a professional fitness trainer.

Introducing…

Kyle Gala, Our New Personal Trainer

Kyle’s journey as a fitness professional began, as such journeys often do, with an epiphany. “It was right around the time of COVID,” he says, “and everyone was stuck at home. You see yourself in the mirror every day and think, I’m kind of not liking what I’m seeing…not liking the look. That’s when I got serious about diet and fitness training. For the first year, I worked out in my garage and then became a member of a gym.

Kyle had had a glimpse of his future — as a personal trainer — taking shape. “At the time, I was a college student studying mechanical engineering at Farmingdale State when suddenly the curriculum, with its heavy emphasis on math and physics, and using study materials that struck me as extremely outdated and boring.”

The Transition Begins

Because he was already certified as a personal trainer, Kyle’s decision to make a transition was an easy one. “I accepted a position in a physical therapist’s office and began the search process that brought me to Fitness Incentive. And that really was a stroke of luck. I’d quickly come to realize that fitness is my passion and that I really wanted to be a professional fitness trainer. I’d only just started looking, and right there at the top of my list was Fitness Incentive. Its reputation is unmatched, and the location was great, just a 15-minute drive from home. I know Babylon Village, having gone to Swell Taco, which is literally next door. With a situation so perfect and lucky, how could I not apply and work here?”

I wanted to be a fitness trainer because…

When asked to complete this sentence, Kyle reiterates how fortunate he was to recognize what drives him. “I love working out and bodybuilding,” he says, “I mean, really enjoy it. It has been a transformation in more ways than simply physical. I’m in an excellent headspace and frame of mind.”

Philosophy

When asked to summarize his training philosophy, he says that he places a strong emphasis on form, range of motion, and hitting everything the way it’s supposed to be hit. Additionally, he is obsessive about avoiding injuries. “Staying consistent,” he adds, “and day by day doing the right things requires the kind of discipline that comes naturally to me.”

To Make a Difference

Kyle relates a story that still sustains him years after it occurred. “In my earlier workout days, I’d begun to see progress and was posting before-and-after shots on Instagram. There was a guy at my old gym whom I had casually helped once or twice with his form. So one day, he approached me and said, ‘Are you Kyle?’ And I said, ‘Yes, I am.’ ‘I’ve seen you on Instagram,” he says, “and I’ve got to tell you it’s really inspiring to see the transformation you’ve made. Your example motivates me and makes me look forward to seeing similar results.’ I still think about this often. He was grateful, and I was pleased to have made a difference in his life and inspired him. I am grateful to have received that kind of positive feedback, and it’s part of what makes personal training so rewarding.”
