Fitness Incentive offers classes in a wide variety of Yoga disciplines. These include:

Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa means “linked with breath”. Vinyasa is based on the Ashtanga system of Yoga, which is considered to be purifying, vigorous and strengthening. The emphasis is on proper body alignment and linking the poses with breath to create a moving meditation. This class is taught in a warm room to create external heat to help build internal heat.

Kripalu Yoga:  Kripalu is a gentle hatha yoga practice with a compassionate approach and emphasis on meditation, physical healing and spiritual transformation that overflows into daily life. The classes usually begin with breathing exercises and gentle stretches followed by a series of individual poses and final relaxation.

Hot Fusion Yoga:  Hot Fusion Yoga classes are held in a room heated up to 99 degrees. The internal heat generated by the yoga exercises combines with the external heat of the room to encourage sweating and detoxification.  Every posture in the Hot Fusion Yoga classes is complemented with proper breathing techniques to assist you in reaching the maximum limit of the movement. Hot Fusion is a great way to detoxify and achieve balance between mind, body and spirit.

Restorative Yoga: Restorative Yoga focuses on relaxing the body in restful postures. Note that 'rest' is different than sleep.  While we sleep every night, we rarely take time to rest.  Rest provides the body an opportunity to renew and heal. Restorative Yoga poses help us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely.

Chair Yoga:  Chair yoga is the term generally used to describe a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting in a chair, or standing using a chair for support.  Chair Yoga is one of the gentlest forms of yoga available. One can learn many kinds of yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and ways of relaxation, with the aid of a chair.

Form and Focus:  Eclectic Hatha yoga - This class is good for all levels but best for beginners to intermediate students.  Learn and reaffirm proper alignment/form of the postures, work on balance and strength, and regain mental focus and calm.

Yoga Stew:  This is an eclectic Hatha yoga & vinyasa class starting with foundation poses and a theme for the month. Every month the theme changes & new poses (ingredients) are added.   It is not a series, so coming to any class will benefit any student. Meditation & stress managing pranayama (breathing techniques) ar included in the class. Come & taste the stew!!!

Pre-natal Yoga:  Prenatal class series are offered various times throughout the year.  Private sessions and small group classes are also available.

Essential Stretch: This is an "om-free" 75 minute stretch class designed to induce deep relaxation and increase flexibility.

Candlelight Essential Stretch: This class takes the Essential Stretch experience to the next level. Held once a month, this class is the ultimate in relaxation. There is an extra fee for this class, and registration is required. Click here for the current schedule.

Which is Better - Yoga or Pilates?

This is a question I am often asked.
Is there really an answer to this question? I don't think so…it's like asking a parent do you like your son or daughter better. They are two separate entities… one complimenting and/or enhancing the other. It is my belief based on years of practicing both Yoga and Pilates...
